Cat Canteri returns with Modified: a powerful new EP exploring identity, resilience and love Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Cat Canteri will release her new six-track EP Modified on Nov 27th. The self-produced EP was recorded at Audrey Studios in Coburg with engineer Craig Pilkington and mixed/mastered by Zac Barter. The sessions brought together an outstanding band: Ben Franz (bass), Stevie Hesketh (wurlitzer, organ), Justin Olsson (drums), with Barter also contributing bass and cello on the closing track.
From the tender family portrait of In The Garden to the title track’s fierce reflection on conformity and self-expression, Modified traces the ways we grow, hide, resist and connect. Alone delves into isolation and mental health struggles with stark clarity, while It’s Gonna Be Okay captures the anxieties of modern connection and online life, carrying an undercurrent of hope. Love Anyway turns to the timeless question of what love means in fractured times, before Know You Child closes the EP with a heartfelt meditation on parenthood, legacy and learning to listen.
Musically, the EP moves between delicate folk textures and dynamic rock energy, held together by Canteri’s commanding voice and evocative guitar work.
"I wanted this record to be honest about the ways we change — and sometimes hide parts of ourselves — just to fit in, and also about the ways we keep searching for connection, family and love,"says Canteri. "It’s personal, but I think these are things everyone grapples with in their own way." Modified will be available on Friday 28th November across all streaming platforms.
