I knew who Edward Showden was before this evening. I heard about his story in passing on the ABC new headlines and in my Facebook feed. But it wasn't until tonight after seeing a snippet of his first US Television interview that I felt compelled to go back and find out more. Truly inspiring, and frightening. "Because even if you’re not doing anything wrong you’re being watched and recorded. It’s getting to the point you don’t have to have done anything wrong, you simple have to eventually fall under suspicion from somebody, even by a wrong call. Then they can use this system to go back in time and scrutinise every decision you’ve ever made, every friend you’ve ever discussed something with, and attack you on that basis to sort of derive suspicion and paint anyone in the context of a wrong doer" Ed Showden
